About Me

Okay, so many have been wondering about the story of Virgil. It's not a long story...I am a simple guy. I grew up in Communist Romania, moved to the United States in 1990s to attend college, met a hot American girl and ended up marrying her. Beyond that not much is really important.

I can be opinionated, but I also do my best to be generous; I have been learning the hard way how important generosity is, especially after realizing that I am unfinished, on a journey to grow, and be human, because only then I will need Christ - I am flawed, I am a hypocrite and constantly fail to live up to my own expectations.

I am a philosopher who likes to study Mircea Eliade's history of religion, and a theologian who likes to expose un-popular facts about Calvin; I listen religiously to Steve Taylor, and most of all I enjoy being in God's presence, which is real, now, here on earth. It is His presence which has created in me a renewed love of nature and prompted us to embark on a new journey from riches to straw.

Oh, and I am a Preterist (who sees a huge potential in the Emergent Church) and gun-carrying, tattooed liberal-conservative (depends on who you ask) Emergent Christian who enjoys smoking premium cigars.

I am fascinated with Eastern Orthodox Theology's realistic presentation of "heaven on earth" and the rendering of God's Kingdom as a present eschatological reality, and I see a tremendous and very encouraging potential in the coming generation of Christians, especially in the western world.

I am a geek who wants to know why iced tea is sometimes cloudy, and a die hard Liverpool F.C. fan (this is real football).

That's enough for now; send me a note, let me know where you are in your own journey. You can always stop by and visit us for a Dayton Emergent Cohort meeting.

Ok, you are my twin. Expect that I am a girl who married a hot guy. I'd rather smoke a hooka with apricot tobacco, I'm studying Eusebius, but have read Eliade.
I too am preterist, in most ways essential. I'm deeply drawn to Eastern Orthodoxy, having grown up Catholic in materialist America. I'm a linguist and spend a significant portion of time reading sociolinguistics, theology, philosophy. I teach.
I worked on scripture translation in the Pacific rim languages...
All that to say, I wish you lived closer, I'd love to have you and your hot girl over for dinner. ;) Good conversation is hard to come by...

Does it matter what Calvin did or did not do. Gods word is true,His word is eternal,it does not matter what I think you think Calvin thought . You need to ,we need to study the WORD learn of him and you,we might find out how wrong we, you are.

Murphy, would it matter if you discovered that I killed a few people here and there? Would it affect how you view me, my writings and my person?

I suppose it would, but if your writings were true to the Word of God, I would say to myself this man understood the Word of God and was right whether he was a murderer or not! I would say that the heart is deceitful and wicked above ALL things, and if the truth were known we've all have committed murder and whatever else you want to imagine, that is apart of being depraved isn't it? On another note I listen to your message on the Kingdom and I don't think that you fully grasp what true dispensationalism is, you've mixed allot of beliefs together and put someone like me in a nutshell! Not every fundamentalist believes all the things you think they believe. A true fundamentalist holds to the fundamentals of the scriptures, not the fundamentals of his own mind, so don't put every fundamentalist in one category! Like I said and say to myself every time i pick up the Bible let your word be true and every man a liar!
