Why did the Emergent Chicken Cross the Road?
A few days ago Michael Kruse had a really funny post titled "Why did the Emergent Chicken Cross the Road?" What makes something really funny is when there is a seed of truth in it...and if we can't make fun of ourselves, then what is the point? Why did the Emergent Chicken Cross the Road?
my contributions to his list:
Emergent economist's answer: Because chicken eggs can be labeled "fair trade" on the other side.
The Shock Doctrine answer: Milton Friedman kicked the emergent chicken across the road and then charged him for it.
Driscoll's answer: The other emergent, chickified-dude chickens were on the other side.
McLaren's answer: That's an interesting question, and it prompts me to wonder why we invaded Iraq and how that's a generous gospel?

If I was emergent I guess my answer would be,Does it really matter why he crossed the road? Is it imporant ?
You see we are being furiously pursued, and so was the chicken. So if you want to stick to he old medevil ways go ahead.
This chicken is on a journey and to box him in is makes me wanna write a letter to Bono.
Your so concred about why he crossed the road, instead of seeing the bigger picture.
That is ,Chickens, cows, pigs and rats ALL get to cross the road. Not just chickens, you right wing exclusive republican fanatic.

Paige, that was funny too btw, although baptists never had potluck dinners when I was in Romania. Maybe no emergent chickens running around...by Paige - 22 May, 2008 - 14:11:10
John H,You forgot to add that, quite possibly, the chicken was being chased by a one-legged clown trying to stab him with a ham sandwich...;)
Virgil,
In America, Baptists and potlucks go hand in hand (or is that hand in glove?). I butcher metaphors...Which might be another reason the chicken crossed the road...It was a metaphorical chicken, and it was fleeing from me.

Well personally I liked my last answer best:"The question is merely a foundationalist modernist attempt to distill complex realities down to a single proposition in accordance with some metanarrative."
Thanks for the link and the additions!
